If you have a way of getting Visual Studio.NET for yourself, Beginning C# by Karli Watson from Wrox is very good.

I did scan through this book at bookstore, and I found that most of the chapter is discussing hand-coding (he does not refer how to use the vs.net, am I right?). I will try to spend certain days to have another scan
If you have the book, then how good do you think the book is?

Beginning C# is pretty good but does assume the use of vs.net. I found professional asp.net quite good and it's based on hand coding. I am new to any type of programming so the whole oop thing has me a bit stumped but the book is great in other areas.

Not only does he discuss the use of VS.NET, he ASSUMES that you have it. I have not gotten very far into it, and I don't have any other C# book to compare with, so I cant really tell how good it is yet.

I have earlier coded with PHP, and Karli is pretty good at easing me into the much more complex world of C# - so far so good.

That is SO true! While I know he is hired as an inhouse author at Wrox, I have absolutely no idea what his field of expertize is, or what work experience he had. In the "about the authors"-section, this is what it says about Karli:

Karli Watson is an in-house author for Wrox Press with a pechant for multicolored clothing. He started out with the intention of becoming a world famous nanotechnologist, so perhaps one day you will recognize his name when he recieves the Nobel Prize. For now, though, Karli's copputing interests include all things mobile, and upcoming tech such as C#. He can often be found preaching about these techs at conferences, as well as after hours in drinking establishments. Karli is also a snowboarding enthusiast, and wishes he had a cat.
