    Adding directory to website

Does adding directory to website increase ranking, and is it worth doing it.

For exmaple having loan site www.example.com and adding directory here www.example.com/directory.
and in the directory only having finace realte site to it.
So basically only adding website that is related your your niche

I don't think that will have any direct effect on increasing your ranking. However if your directory grows by leaps and bounds ends up being immensely popular and people link back to you, then yes that will increase your ranking.

Nope not really, as you would in turn be exchanging links with sites that are not relevant to your site, which is a bad thing !

If you already have a niche website, and you want to add a directory, I think the basic premise should be that you will be using the directory to create a resource that benefits your users. For example, if you take the time research the many parts of your niche, and organize the links into categories, your users may find that your directory is a great central location locating the information they need related to your niche. With search engines, often users don't know what to search for, and are not familiar with some of the key areas of the niche. By creating a resource that covers many of the key areas, it will be a benefit to your users.

Having too many outgoing links form your website is not recommended as it will loose its weight. It is often advised to limit the number of outgoing or external links form your website to others. Hence it is best not add a directory on your website for search engine optimisation as it will not improve your rank. In fact it may have a negative impact due to number of external links and also as you are bound to get bad quality poor links on the directory.
