Trackbacks on Wordpress
I have a client who says that trackbacks to her Wordpress site are only appearing off-and-on ... meaning, not every link to the blog is appearing as a trackback.
My guess is that the sites linking are not adding her trackback URL in their blog engine, but at least one is running Wordpress (which should pingback automatically).
Besides the other sites not adding the trackback URL, is there any other reason they wouldn't be appearing?
Maybe she is logging into www. then no www.
Im not sure how wordpress does the trackback it may vary.
Thanks for the response. The URL for the blog is actually
so there's no WWW. Would that make a difference?
I dont know. I was just guessing there.
I know google considers
2 different domains
Don't know if blog.name.com/path and www.blog.name.com/path exist.
If its at blogspot then im sure they have a .htacess redirect to prevent multiple domains with same url.
WordPress can be set to not ping linked blogs automatically. This is likely to be the culprate.
Thanks Ryan. It's pretty difficult to figure out the problem when it may not be anything on our side at all!

Trackbacks can be used anywhere -- Wordpress has its own "thing" called Pingbacks, which basically are trackbacks between WP blogs. Nothing special about them, tho.
