    Scroll Text Reading TXT File?

    Hello all,
    I need a Dreamweaver CS3 static page have scrolling text on it. However, I need it reading off of a txt file. I already have a Flash CS3 page reading off of the txt file. Now I need the same TXT file (wit the HTML tags), to show up on Dreamweaver. Is this possible to do?

    The reason being, we want to change only the txt file for new events. We want these changes to appear in both the Flash page as well as the low bandwidth static page.

    Thanks for your help.
    Chris

    Just use includes - either PHP or SSIs to include the text file contents in the HTML page.

    I'm not sure I follow. Do you mean the webpage will have to have PHP Server Side Included programming? I don't know either.
    I knew this wouldn't be easy.

    Java?!

    @Another Designer: You can include text files with SSI (server-side include), but it generally requires you to save the HTML page with a .shtml suffix.

    SSI looks like comments:
    Code:
    <!--#include file="myfile.txt"-->
    If you're using PHP anyway, it's easier to use PHP includes. But it's overkill to use PHP includes only for a simple text file. (Although not as much overkill as using Java. )

    Um, but how is the text going to scroll? Javascript? Flash would use Actionscript for the scrolling, but other than marquee for horizontal scrolling, I can't think of how this would be done HTML/CSS-wise (assuming vertical scrolling).... so if there's going to be scripting anyway, maybe have the whole thing, including the scrolling programme, in a php file?
