    GNU License Question

    Hello all,

I am developing a script to show user created content on a page. Now I want to use a PHP class that has been released by the author under the GPL license. What I would like to know is if I will be able to use this script in my project.

A couple of things about my script:

It will be hosted on my website
    It will not be distributed
It will be only available to users as a paid membership website.
I will not be releasing the source code to anyone

Can someone give me more insight to this regard?

    Thank you.

I am not a lawyer but... The thing with the GPL is that they want you to make available modifications to the source of THEIR project. This tends to be a common area of confusion. One of the GPL goals is that they want you to not just run off with their code and make useful changes without sharing. That defeats the purpose of open development. So that said, if you make any changes to the GPL php code, you need to make available the changes to that library to the authors.

Hey Chris, thank you for your reply. So let me get this straight. If I do not make any changes to their code then I do not need to make the code available right? I plan to use the class for exactly what it was made for without change.

Also if I do make changes to their code, do I need to make my whole script available or just the changed portions of their code?
