    Corrupted file

I opened up a .class file recently and it looked like this:

    Code:

I have no clue as to why it looks that way, does that mean it's corrupted?

why are u opening up .class file? those are java binary codes. Well, if you're really interested what those means then use Java decompiler.

As sg707 stated, No, the file is most likely not corrupted.

.class files typically look this way.

A .class file is the compiled version of a .java file.

If you wish to read a .class file you will need a java decompiler. There are several available on the market. Some are open source and free to use, others like DJ Decompiler you will have to pay for.

It's considered shady to be decompiling other peoples programs. For this reason people might run their program through an obfuscator before releasing their code to make it more difficult to read when decompiled.

    Best of Luck.

Wow, n00b moment. I hadn't programmed in Java for over a year and was just messing around yesterday, and for some reason thought I needed to edit the .class files, not the .java files. No wonder
