    Slow PHP/RSS feeds

    Hi Guys---

I'm not really up on PHP, but I had someone install some RSS feeds into my page. For a few months, things were fine, but now the speed is WAY too slow.

I've killed them from my current homepage, but a sample of the slow page can be seen at http://sassyeskimo.com/franktrash.php

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    TSE

My RSS scripts run on cron and create XML files available to users. So the script can run once every hour and XML is available for download for every user in mean without server overload.

I take it you mean the content at the bottom (blue bg)?

It might be because you have so many - can we see the code you use to create the anyway though? Might be able to find a cause.

rosoft might have an idea actually - caching the rss content every hour would make the page load a lot faster - however the content would only be updated hourly and ot immediately - although you could make a system to check for new updates and re-cache if appropiate.
