    Question Anyone hear about this?

It sounds too good to be true, so it probably is, but... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2010800998

didn't hear about that, but that offer seems way to good to be true. There is no profit margin whatsoever for that host, so I would not expect them to be around for the long term.

I'm not trying to stereotype this offer, but almost all hosting auctions on eBay are scams. I'd pass of this "offer."

Well the network they just described in the offer is EV1 (Rackshack) - even so, there is no way it could be done at that price. 100 Gb disk space is quite expensive, plus the rest of the server the customer would be taking over.

Rackshack servers come with 400GB bandwidth per month - which works out to around $0.25 per GB. So those prices are just covering cost (assuming that they 100% utilize their bandwidth to gain economies!). That leaves the only way to make money for them is to oversell and stuff the server with user accounts.

    Red face

Alright, so it turns out that it was a scam after all. The guy is ignoring my e-mails and hasn't set up my account yet, and it's been eight full days since I paid for it. I should've listened to you guys, but I guess it's just another lesson learned.
