You are very right Cosmas!.. Africa is very rich in terms of natural resources.. Gold, bauxite, manganese, Iron, timber, wildlife, fertile soil,... etc.. however, how good is a natural resource when it is not put to good use?... Ghana for example is very rich in terms of timber. If Ghana is able to process the bulk timber or the logs into modern plywoods or may be a few secondary and finished goods, then Ghana can sell these at higher prices at the international market. However, Ghana continues to sell its timber in bulks to the United States at very cheap prices.. so what next?... the timber is going down and Ghana remains the same..

Other places though their living standards compaired to the us may be substandard...their health care and education system is better...but then again most of the time it is abused by those in power....

as far as the us having a lot of credits....that could be said pretty much for every nation....
    yep! you're right!

does devaluation of the dollar compared to other strong world currencies like the euro n sterling pound, not have negative impact on the economy of the US thereby making it drop its position as being the wealthiest? I think so....get the dollar back up, then I'll support your statement...

I think New Zealand is probably the richest country in the world, based on my values of richness. New Zealand is pretty much the only democratic, anti-conflict, potentially self-reliant country out there, and is still very beautiful. It has hardly any corruption, invests heavily in re-newable energy, and does not allow any nuclear technology in its territory.
