    Would anybody please tell me if PHP supports SQL or not.

    Yes... (and no).

    SQL is the language you use to access and manipulate data in a database. It is understood by your database server.

    php has build in functions to connect to databases, execute SQL statements and access the results.

    So, without becomming a bore, yes, php supports SQL and does a good job of it too.
