    Lightbulb Font Help Please..

Hi folks, this is my first post so be kind to me pleeeease.
I was wondering how I can identify the font type used in a football club logo, I have tried emailing the club and it's printers etc. but none of them will tell me.

    Any ideas?

The logo/text is of Glasgow Rangers, see attachment

    Ps.

I only been doing this web stuff for six months and want to know so much more about it, I think I found the right place . I have spent the last week looking over the site and so much is way over my head it's frustrating/frightning (delete where approp), specially for an "old yin" like me. Some of the designs in the competitions are awesome and make me want to

    Pps.
I know I will get abuse for this but, why such the bad write up on wysiwyg editors, are they all THAT bad?
I shall take the knuckle wrap like a man, sorry!

I've never seen anything like it...sorry.

But, when push comes to shove and its just a few letters I need to duplicate, I haul out a vector program and trace over a good copy of the source image. Takes a bit of time, but the end result is identical.

    Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks for the reply, it's quite daunting asking a "silly" question in here and I appreciate your response.
I am trying to learn adobe and psp, so will have to wait till I have sussed these out.

    Again, thanks for the reply

It would be very difficult if you're trying to use the link that rabbitdog supplied. The reason being is because your image has 3 characters layered upon each other and the 'scanner' used to recognize fonts at MyFonts.com can't decipher it.

Therefore, you'll probably have to search around font reserve websites and looking for that type of "Stylish" font.

    Try this link: http://www.myfonts.com/Search?what=f...chtext=stylish

Ruchir: I'm almost 99.9% sure that there is a font similar to that that's floating around on the web. I doubt that a football club would go as far as to have a custom-designed font.

i thought that there are 3 characters around each other and so they wouldnt have a font linking to eath other and rather make an image.. but anyway .. my bad
    Peace.

There are several reasons why this marque was probably not created as a full character set.

Not least is the matter of need (or rather lack of it).

Contrary to some previous posts, it was often the case for clubs that have at some point achieved either greatness or a great following to have custom marques created.
It was no different to companies doing it then or now.

However, the likelihood of this fount ever being created or expanded as a full character set is quite small (especially given its decorative nature and the practical requirements for such a fount.)

Furthermore the likelihood of it being expanded to a full character set and being digitised must surely be miniscule.

Vector version of both Rangers marques are available if you know where to look.
These are fully crisp, perfect artwork, often originating from official artwork files (rather than crappy hand-traced or auto-traced copies).
(It's all about knowing where to look)

If it is a question of resolution I can pass you vector versions of both the Rangers marques (if you want).

You can then scale them and use them to generate raster artwork at whatever size and resolution you want while remaining perfectly crisp.

p.s. What's the thinking behind the Duke Nukem go-go dancer on your Rangers site, rabmurdy?

    Talking Go-Go Dancer

Bill, I would very much appreciate it if you sent these to me, I have been looking for weeks now and can only find poor quality copies. Cheers...

(The dancer is there because my daughter thought it was funny and wanted some input on the front page. A little tacky, yes, but got to keep the kids happy.)

    ps.
What did you think of the site?

I can't really comment much as I'm not a footy fan (I support Spurs)
