Insert into on sumbit click

hey all. i m starter at mysql.i m working ion a database. i have created the the form(basically i m just trying to insert first name into the fname in database. now what i want when someone fill the first name and hit sumbit, it shld go into fname field in database n on next page confirmation shld be recived ur application has been added(if successfully) can any1 help me with coding

Coding the script for receiving the form data and saving it in the database isn't a mysql question, but PHP (if you're using PHP that is).
