Question Accessing WAMP Server from external computer

I am trying to figure out how to access my WAMP Server from a computer outside of our local home network. We have a DSL-G604T router and within that under 192.168.1.2 which is my computer I ahve added a port forward with the follwoing settings:

    name: wamp
    protocol: TCP
    Start: 8080
    End: 8080
    Port Map: 80

I have tried typing myexternameip and then :8080 into a browser on a pc outside of ournetwork but i get nothing and WAMP server is deffo set to be online. I ahve no idea what I need to do to get it going as I do not have any experience with these things.

Any other help would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Neil

    Neil,

First, please be aware that "bumping" of a thread is against SitePoint policy. Please don't get banned for something this silly.

Second, I always advise against "canned" programs (like WAMP) but that's not the question here.

What is your interface with WAMP? If it's a browser interface, setup a VirtualHost and password protect its directory. If not, you'll need some remote access program to access your system.
