Can anyone recommend a good/free file extension converter? Like .ani to .gif

Anybody know of a free file extension converter? I have a .ani animated image that only works in IE (that only works in IE right?) So I need to convert it to a .gif or something similar for firefox and the others also. Any pointers would be very helpful. Thanks a lot!

Have you tried "Gimpshop"? This may be able to do the .ani file format and it is open source which typically means free piece of software. If you are familiar with photoshop then you shouldn't have much trouble with Gimpshop. Not 100% sure if it supports the .ani extension but it does support a lot. Even if it doesn't its worth getting anyway.
If this works then wehey. If not............bahhhhhhhh

It is never a matter of changing the file extension. - just doing that will make the file inaccessible. What you need to do is to change the format of the file from one type to the other. In the case of image formats any graphics program that supports both formats will be able to do that for you.
