Server Overloading Problem

Hello,

I have a dedicated server at the planet. I have multipul sites with WHM.


Once or twice a month one get a huge spike in traffic around a sporting event, like a digg - but lasts ~1.5 days

Is their a way to limit that site in WHM so it dosent take down my other sites?

anybody...I was thinking of moving the site to survivetraffic.com (formerly survivedigg.com), but I would prefer to stay put.

There isn't a way to limit it as such in the manner you are thinking. Ultimately you would need to deal with it in the event it does have issues.

However the question is WHY does it fail during the spike from digg, if you cannot adjust the website so it does not cause issues in the event of traffic spikes then you have the choice of offloading it or suspending it when it spikes.

If you can't adjust things, a reasonable option would be to use something amazon's EC2 service rather than your dedicated box at ThePlanet.
