    Lacie Firewire to Dell PC?

    Hello,
I have an old external Lacie Firewire hard drive that I want to back up on a Windows PX Terabyte external hard drive. But I don't see any firewire ports on the Dell. However, there is a firewire port on the back of the Terabyte external hard drive. After plugging it in there it the Lacie does not show up.

Is there a correct way to back up my Mac Firewire files on to the Windows machine so I can burn them on to a DVD? Maybe there is a firewire to USB adapter?

    Thanks for your help.

Does your Dell have a 4-pin firewire port?

If so you can get a 6-4 pin firewire cable:

If not you can get an external enclosure with usb support that supports
the HD in the Lacie Drive and still use if you want to get a bigger HD.

I'm not familiar with the PX external hard drive series (is that from Plextor?)...but as I read it, you tried to hookup the Lacie HDD to the other HDD via Firewire? I guess you run your PX via USB hookup to the dell, right? Which means that your PX model has both USB and firewire, but that is solely for the connection to the PC...not to hookup additional drives (please correct me if I'm wrong, but I doubt it )

Well, tbh I've never heard of a firewire to USB adapter/converter, so the easiest way to use firewire-drive would be to get a firewire adapter (PCI-card), which are running really cheap (over here the start at 12 Euro)...
