    Minamalist Office

I used to think it was cool to have 2-3 computers on my desk, and various gadgets, etc. I am now setting up my new office, and I am thinking of going "minamalist". I am going to try to have as little as possible on my desk. I figure I need:
    • Mouse
    • Keyboard
    • Flat Screen Monitor
    • Speakers (maybe will mount on the wall so they are not on the desk)
    • Printer (possibly on a table that is not on my desk)
    • CPU (under my desk)

    I will be removing:
    • extra CPU
    • extra monitor
    • extra keyboard
    • extra mouse
    • pens and paper (will keep them in another place and get them when I need them

Tell me about what you have done to keep your work environment simple and efficient.

I am totally behind you on that. I have a very small laptop with a docking station, mouse/kb, printer and that's it. Anything else gets put away, even pens, etc. Productivity is up when clutter is down.

On the desk I work at there's a monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, mesh cup of pens and pencils and a small notebook. The only times I ever write something on paper are when I'm on the phone and need to take something down -- easier than typing into notepad with the cell phone against my shoulder.

I'm on the fence on the desktop vs laptop thing. I'm not a big fan of laptops that are hot, heavy and large. On the other hand, ultraportables like the one I have now can't handle Photoshop on a 22" monitor at the desk. I want to replace my aging desktop with a laptop, but one which is powerful enough would be a lot more expensive than building another desktop.

I prefer a desktop as well, and a large monitor is fine with me. I use a pad like you.
