    Chess content website

    Hi,

I have spent a while completely redoing the structure of my websites (built my own framework etc) and decided to give my chess website a little makeover as well.

Opinions very much sought and appreciated

    Thank you.

Well, I think that yellow is ok, I like this color, but why do you use so many colors for the tables in Annotated games and Articles sections? It's rather annoying in my opinion.

The design seems to me a bit dull and monotonous. I like yellow, but at the same time I agree with the other posts - your site looks childish (yellow doesn't match well to the topic)

Try and add some images, photos to liven up a screen. Illustrate while delivering a message! This will definitely capture your visitors' attention.

    Good luck!

The navigation is good, I like the breadcrumb idea, although I never found any page I couldn't get to without it.

    A couple of suggestions:

1.) get some images, ANYTHING would help here.
2.) The yellow, although not a bad color, is a little harsh on a bright monitor. You might want to try toning it down a few notches.
3.) What's with the google ads? Their contrast takes away from what content you do have. Unless they're really bringing you some business I would suggest getting rid of them.

Hi, I love chess!!!! but the yellow kinda hurt me.

A chess board will be nice, remember the visual impact takes less time. I also suggest a fixed width design as the text is more readable. I'm at 1200 px of screen resolution and it doesn't appeal reading long lines. Remember that big screens are becoming more and more common.

Is great to talk about the chess parts of the game (opening, middle and so...) as it is really important for beginners to understand and put in practice. Good luck!

WAY too much yellow. It's totally overkill. You are using yellow on yellow.

I agree with everyone else on the yellow.

Maybe try going with browns or blues...or even darker reds. The dull yellow background of the site isn't too bad - it's just mainly the "New Features" box, etc. Just have to pay attention to your contrast and you should be OK
This page (color combination) looks a lot better if you wanted to stick with the yellow:
