301 Redirect Quick Question

I need to redirect everything from my /avatars/ directory to http://av.thedailyneopets.com. So this means mysite.com/avatars/falkw3j4i234/ would also go to av.thedailyneopets.com. I've tried:

redirect 301 /avatars http://av.thedailyneopets.com

But that redirects it to that domain WITH any extra stuff AFTER /avatars.

Tip,

I think you need a trailing / after /avatars - and it's supposed to carry on AFTER avatars/
