How do I install Webmin on a Linux server?

    Greetings All,

How do I install Webmin on a Linux server?

I am using Putty to remotely access the server which runs RedHat Enterprise OS and Apache.

I mean I have downloaded the .rpm file from Webmin and just need to know what are the commands for installing a .rpm file on Linux and then how to configure webmin for proper operation and usage?

    Best Regards,

The command to install a .rpm is rpm.

    Code:
    [root@www admin]# rpm
    RPM version 4.3.3
    Copyright (C) 1998-2002 - Red Hat, Inc.
As with most linux software, you can type rpm --help for an explanation of the available options. You'll find -i for install. It's also useful to turn on -h (hash marks for progress) and -v (verbose output in case there are errors).

    Code:
    [root@www admin]# rpm -ivh package.rpm

    Hello Dan,

Thanks for the info, however it does not work.
I mean I get Error message that command not found.
    Here:

    [root@server1 Webmin]# rmp -ivh webmin-1.410-1.noarch.rpm
    -bash: rmp: command not found

The command is rpm, just like the file extension, not rmp.

    Dan,

    Thanx for this reply.
Sorry I did not reply earlier. I did not want you to think I was ungrateful
for the help, so I am sending a late thank you note.

P.S., I still actually have not gotten around to install this Webmin program,
so will let you know if any problems.
