Installing software on MAMP

Hi,

I'm running MAMP on my macbook.

I want to install Sphinx on my server to play around with it.

I have NO idea what I am doing.

Do I need to upload the Sphinx package to the /MAMP/Library/??? directory and then run the commands that Sphinx provides?

I've attached a screenshot of MAMP's structure.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

You may need to compile, depending on what install you have.

thanks SSANZ. i downloaded xcode which allows me to compile it. it compiled fine and everything went well except that sphinx needs to 'find' mysql but the default path is not the same as in my environment. i'll need to edit the bash_login file.
