    password protection via .htaccess

I have a situation where client wants to be able to publish a calendar online. They want people to be able to subscribe to the calendars openly - however they also want to be able to publish the calendars, which will require a password.

If I use .htaccess - even just to subscribe to the calendar the public needs the login/password because it protects the directory - is there a way to change this so only those who plan to publish requires the login?

    wons,

Yes, MOVE the calendars to another directory. You can use PHP to upload and move_uploaded_file() the calendars wherever you need. From the "old" directory, you can link to the new location with the login/password.
