    Div vs Table in ASP.Net

    Hey guys,

I am not experienced in ASP.Net at all. I am taking some html files and re vamping them for asp. I was just wondering if it would be better to do a section of the site in a table, or a set of divs?

    Thanks!

I would always use what is semanticly correct for the task. For tabular data I use a table, for layout etc I use what is semanticly correct for that task (everything from divs to heading tags etc). Now in ASP.NET the different controls Gridview, menus etc output by default a table, sometimes this makes sence, but not always. One workaround to this is to use the CSS friendly control adapters which you can find here: http://www.codeplex.com/cssfriendly, what this does is that it will override the default rendering cycle of the control and output its own code which is more semantic correct and more css friendly. Read more about them here: http://www.asp.net/CSSAdapters/WhitePaper.aspx.

    Hope it helps
