    MySQL

hmm ..this is a little embarassing but i am very new to this ...just read the first part of 'Build your own Database Driven Website using PHP & MySQL' by david yank ...found it excellent and ordered it! ...however i am completely lost when it comes to this bit on page 7:

To set a root password for MySQL, type the following command in the bin directory of your MySQL installation (include the quotes):

i have spent a day trying to work this out and its driving me mad ..can someone PLEASE tell me exactly where and how to do this ...would the path be something like this:
    c:\mysql\bin\mysql.exe
i just keep getting syntax errors and not convinced i'm in the right place ...HELP!!! ...if you have the time/inclination to explain, could you write as though communicating with a retarded potatoe please ...thankyou and goodnight

You should be able to delete it yourself via the "Edit" button.

and the answer was this btw:

You'd type it at the MS-DOS command line in the bin directory of your MySQL installation. So something like this (commands you type in bold):
C:\> cd mysql\binC:\mysql\bin> mysqladmin -u root password "mynewpass"

... well you might've been interested

That is true. Normally, every user is able to delete their own posts except for the first post in a thread. Only Advisors and Administrators are able to delete that. This is to prevent that all kinds of threads with valuable information mysteriously dissappear.

The alien part if is joke one of the Administrators has built into the forums. There are more of those lines, so if you find one, you'll know where it is coming from .
