Looking for a way to have latest forum and blog topics on front page...

I'm looking for a way to have the lastest forum topics and blog topics incorporated on my home page, similar to how Sitepoint has their newest forum discussions. Is there any software (CMS) out there that lets me do this easily incorporating with a forum and blog. I'm relatively new to CMS and have never used one before. I'm also new to php.

Are you already using a specific forum software?

As far as I know, Joomla works pretty nicely with phpBB. Drupal has a forum integrated, so you'll need some additional modules and a lot of work until you get something even close to vBulletin (that's the forum software used around here). Then there's Silverlight, I haven't used it much but it also comes with its own forum.

I'm using vbulletin as my forums.

Can you create a RSS feed for your forum posts?
Then just use a feed reading module of any decent CMS to show this info and the relevant links.

There's a bridge for Joomla available, haven't used it and haven't used Joomla for quite some time.
