    Mac problem: cannot find /usr/local/mysql/data/

I'm new to PHP/SQL stuff and just started using Build Your Own Database Driven Website Using PHP&MYSQL by Kevin Yank.

Everything was going great until i got to page 20 where it says to copy the my.cnf file into the folder /usr/local/mysql/data/

i'm wondering if Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard altered the location of this file or why I can't seem to find it.

    many thanks,
    Spencer

Mac OS X doesn't include MySQL by default, but it's easy enough to install. There are binaries available from mysql.com (the 10.4 ones work fine apart from an issue with the startup item) or you can compile your own - it's useful to know how, although you might want to go for the binary for the easiest approach. If you need any help then feel free to shout up.
