I would guess that it is a [computer] keyboard tray.
Obviously, this is the pivot point - where the head of something can be articulated (moved to many different orientations). It could be a lamp, but the screws are attaching a bracke to something large and (more or less) flat.

Well, this is obviously part of a mechanical device.
Something that slides (to extend or stretch). My first thought was that of a "three hole punch" you see around the office.
But I suspect this is a device used by an artist (craftsman).
Am I close? "warmer, warmer, cold, frigid" {like the old child's game}

hmmmm.... they still look like glasses to me - but the strange green background and metallic-looking (?) object in the upper right side are throwing me off
