Hmmm, the texture isn't right for it to be a butterfly. A spider, perhaps...one of those hard-shelled little guys we sometimes see down here?

On mine, not a scale, though the word could be considered related, at a stretch.

No Lee, not a crab spider or jewel spider, but the coloring is sometimes like that on the spiders. These critters breed in the ground and come out first looking very different in color.

Hm, not a scale but a relationship. Do you set volume with it? like scaling it?
