CORRECT. That is the detail of the servos on my J-3 Piper Cub. Longneck was the first to guess correctly.

That bridge was flawed from day one, they used faulty concrete when they poured the pylons, so cracks appeared instantly. Now there is just a lot of repair to keep the steel cables from rusting, they are being scraped and painted in this picture. No danger driving over it though, unless a tanker or other huge ship will hit it like it did the old one, a day I shall never forget.

i'm stumped, so here's my submission:

is it a plasma display? that's some very think coated glass and a diffusion grill or diffraction grating behind it, which made me think CRT.

I'll accept that answer - it is indeed a CRT. It's an old broken television.

You can see the smashed glass tube at the front lined with rows of red, green and blue phosphors and a bit of the shadow mask behind it.
