Exclamation Be careful with video - you can get de-indexed

    Decided to share personal experience.

I recently purchased one solution that grows videos (automatically embeds from YouTube) on your site. This solution is growing about 1,000+ video pages per day on the site.

I put it on several sites of mine (over 1 year history with good content on them) and some of the sites after 2-3 weeks of this video module work got de-indexed from Google.

This does not mean Google punished for using video. I think Google punished for an unexpectedly quick growth of video pages on the sites. Even the sites with content and some Internet history.

And though some other sites with this module are not de-indexed, still I decided to warn you about it.

I think this falls under duplicate content, and it makes sense in a lot of ways.

Not ready to give the ultimate answer - still testing - but on the sites where the growth was moderate (still duplicate content) everything is fine.

Are those sites creating revenue from exclusively embedding youtube videos?

It doesn't even mean that you are being punished. And if you are, it's not because of the presence of video as the title of this thread suggests.

If all you are doing is adding to your site videos that already exist on youtube, how is this benefitting the user? Are you adding something extra? I'm not tut-tutting, just wondering what the selling point is

Video is an attempt to give extra advantage to find more relevant info. So, when it comes down to video, this is a gateway to useful info hosted on YouTube.

But for extra info - videos are just part of the information offered. Basically the site has useful content, and video serves as "extra info", "bonus".
