    What's this PR thing?

    Hi,

I see in marketplace this PR things (i.e PR4, PR5). Does that mean PageRank for Google? I have a blog with a 8 Google Page Rank, would it work for advertising or ad exchange?

    Thanks for answers!

No PR 8 is really miserable you'll need at least 9 or 10 to be taken seriously

Oh, so those PR3, PR4 sites have really low traffic and wouldn't worth even to consider? Need to learn more

    Moved to the Google board.

To make a long story short, PR stands for PageRank, which is a formula that is used to represent on a sliding scale of how popular a Web page (note I said page, not site) is based on how many links it has pointing back at it. It has absolutely nothing to do with traffic, though it can have an impact on your site's ranking in Google.

Please tell me you're being sarcastic, because there's absolutley no truth whatsoever to that statement.

Dan is absolutely right. PageRank matters but to only those who want it. PageRank just pushes up the "perceived" value of your site but in reality it doesn't matter whether you have a PR 0 or PR 10.

Normally, the higher PR you have the higher you can make your advertising rates.

Yes, sorry I was being sarcastic. I'm never quite sure what to make of people who come in with statements like "got PR8 is it any good" or "get 5 million uniques a month can I make any money from that"? Anyway, the guy seems legit so I may as well give a proper reply.

PR and traffic are not correlated but I guess you will have some decent traffic with your PR 8 nevertheless. Read in the SEO board how to monetize it. Advertisers may be interested just because your site must have quite a high authority in its field. Don't sell text links as your page rank will drop.

Don't you mean the Advertising Sales and Affiliate Programs board (for learning how to monetize sites)?

Yes! But some extra SEO knowledge won't hurt either to be able to bring in the relevant keyword traffic.
