    Justifying block elements

I have a set width for a horizontal menu. My intention is to make the menu items block elements so that I can change the color of the bottom border on rollover: Graphic example.

Typically I would float the block menu items left or right to prevent them from wrapping, but I need to justify the menu across the entire available area.

As this is a skin for a CMS system, there could potentially be more or less menu items than currently shown. How would you tackle the problem?

    Thanks,

    Andy

    You could use relative positioning.

Is there a way to use relative positioning without knowing the width of the menu item to the left? The reason I mention this is a skin for a CMS system is because the text of the links (in addition to the number of links) could potentially change.

    Thanks.
