    Faux columns layout question

    Hi

    I was looking at some faux columns layouts on a site and noticed in the source that the author does not use "background-repeat" for his background .gif:

    Something like:
    background-repeat: repeat-y;

    How does he get the .gif to repeat vertically without background-repeat, I studied the code but couldn't figure it out?

    Here is the link please check the source out:

    http://www.code-sucks.com/css%20layo.../faux-1-2-col/

    I sent him an email but never got an answer so I decided to post here.

    Thanks a lot

    Patrick

    He's just letting the image repeat vertically and horizontally by default (that's the default behavior of background images).

    Dan

    So "background-repeat" which I had read in a previous tutorial on faux columns was needed, in fact isn't, right?

    I appreciate the help Dan.

    Thanks a lot

    It depends, if you only want it to repeat in one direction (repeat-x or repeat-y) or not at all then you'd use a background-repeat value.

    If you don't mind it repeating then you don't need to specify anything (unless it's being inherited elsewhere) as the default for background images is background-repeat: repeat;

    Hope that makes sense.

    No problem. I have to give Dave the credit though - he beat me to the punch.
