    I really don't see why marquee is so bad. It may get over used, but other than that i quite like it. I hope it becomes a new thing to css, lol...

    It's poor for accessibility reasons so I'd never suggest using it. Think about people who may be slow readers, mentally disabled or children who may struggle to read the text before it's gone off the page... just because you may be able to read it doesn't mean that everyone will.

    A much better option would be to present it as normal text and then use JavaScript for anyone that has it, to make that bit of text scroll but then also allow the user to control the scroll in some way. Maybe hover over pauses the scroll or even allow an forward/back arrow on that part of the page which the user can control the direction of the scroll.
