    Cool Database design

    Hello,

I'm a beginner when it comes to MySQL database design. I have a question on how to structure a table for an online catalog.

I need to have a wholesale area and a retail area on my website. All the information is the same except for the retail
side I don't want to show prices. I do want to show prices on the wholesale side. We don't accept credit cards and the customer simply fills in a form with the products they want and then fax it to us on the wholesale side. The retail side is used for an online catalog only.

My question is, how do I make the tables in a MySQL database so the wholesale side has prices and the retail side doesn't show prices. Do I need a separate table for each?

Also, can anyone give me a url for a tutorial on how to upload an excel file into a MySQL Database? This seems to be giving me a hard time.

    Thank you

If the data are identical, then you can have just one table, and specify what data you want to display in your php script. No need at all for two tables.

For uploading .csv files, - You can create your own script, but the easiest way is prolly to download phpMyAdmin

    Thumbs up

Thank you for your reply. I will try out phpmyadmin and see if I have any better luck. Are there any tutorials on how to use this.
