.net client uninstallation/reinstallation

I have nowhere else to turn but to the programming gurus: I have had no less than 3 people try to help uninstall/reinstall .net 1.1/2.0/3.x to get the microsoft.net product working on my Windows XP...

I'm out of answers, I've followed 5 pages of microsoft KB articles with registry edits and deletions... I hate to pay microsoft for their help with their broken security update.. anyone fought this battle before?

What exactly you try to install/reinstall, only the .NET Framework or some application like VS?
