Simple MSQL Q. Transfer data how?

Hi there,
sorry to waste your time with such a trivial question, but i have spent far too long trying to find out how to do it. How can i transfer the data from my tables within a main database to a text file or something similar. As i need to upload them to a new server / directory?

I appreciate your help a lot.

There are instructions here on how to backup, transfer, and move your MySQL database. I've used these instructions in working with my DBs and they work. Good luck! http://www.vbulletin.com/manual/movingservers.html

create a script to dump your table or db but b4 that mkdir backup

/usr/local/mysq/bin/mysqldump -u root -p <your_db> > /usr/local/mysql/backup

this will create your code in constructing your db and get all data...check it out once done dumping


on root

$ mysql -u root -p > /usr/local/mysql/backup/<your_db>

and thats it...same db and filed as from the original
