How do the web radios earn their money?

    Well

I met a guy who is running a web radio for the last 4 years, and as he told me, that he is getting some 1,00,000 clicks (means this many number of times people clicks on the radio and listen) on his radio links a day on an average.

However, he is not able to earn any money from that since he couldn't find any sponsor.

He told he would be willing to sell his radio (and the website associated with this) for 40,000 euros.

At this moment, he has a couple of volunteers doing the work of DJ.

I was wondering how would be the project. Is there a way to market the 1,00,000 clicks (say 50,000) visitors a day, say via sponsors, etc?

BTW, the radio broadcasts bollywood music.

    Thanks for sharing your expertise.

I think you will find kigoobe that this is simply because your post doesn't relate in anyway to the nature of this forum section hosted by Sitepoint about E-commerce.

It appears you have a business opportunity with some questions relating to finances/creating web revenue/marketing.

good luck if you intend to buy the site though

    Regards,

    Rich.

Usually radio stations host a web site too. Finding sponsors is not an easy task but I think it is one of the main options for an income.

You probably haven't got any replies because you answered your own question in the statement above.

They generally don't earn any money.

I've got tons of sites making no revenue that I would be willing to sell you for 40k though

You should probably take great care in doing this. And also if you intend on doing it get some proof of these statements at the very least.

By sponsors do you mean advertisers?

If you can't get people to buy adspace on the website, or advertisements to play on the radio, you could always try turning the site into a subscription model, with 50,000 visitors a day you could get a horrible conversation rate and still make money.

Donations? With that amount of regular listeners I'm sure this may turn out pretty well.

And to get sponsors, look for them, send proposals. Not saying your friend doesn't do that already, but never know.
