Running ruby on rails as cgi ... does that invoke webrick?

I figured out how to get Ruby on Rails running on a shared hosting plan I have (they don't officially support ruby on rails). But while I was installing it (for testing purposes) I briefly ran webrick and mongrel on port 3000 (I know this is a violation) ... however, I'm not doing that any more (I needed to test the Rails installation). I'm now just running my application as cgi using the Rails fcgi gem.

I got two notices today from their abuse department about running
    ./script/server webrick

which I haven't done since last week when I installed it. I just want to know if the cgi module is running webrick without my knowledge ... I don't think so, but I want to be sure, since I want to keep running my ROR cgi app.

No, running rails as a CGI process doesn't launch webbrick.

    Right. dispatch.cgi calls Dispatcher.dispatch directly.
