    Simple deployment issue

    Hello,

I have been using the SitePoint Ruby on Rails book to deploy an application. I went through the first couple of steps, and had all the prerequisites. I am using putty to connect to the server. However, I am getting an error when using the rake command - rake db:schema:load RAILS_ENV=production with an access denied error.

The information on the database.yml file looks like this.
    production:
    adapter: mysql
    database: me_production
    username: me_admin
    password: ******
    host: localhost

Are there other changes that I must make on the file? I tried the hosting company, but they don't have a person on site with ruby on rails expertise.

    Any help appreciated.

Can you show the full error you received? (if you highlight text in putty it automatically puts in the clipboard to paste)

Sorry for the late response, i kept trying other means, but here is the error message.

    youtour@youtourism.org [~/public_html/youtourism]# rake db:schema:load RAILS_ENV=production
    (in /home/youtour/public_html/youtourism)
    -- create_table("listingcontents", {:force=>true})
    rake aborted!
#28000Access denied for user 'youtour_admin'@'einstein.lvsassociates.com' (using password: YES)
I guess it has to do with the server I am using, but can't see why it is not going through, when I can create databases and tables manually. Even when I change host from localhost to www.youtourism.org, it is still an error.

This error indicates MySQL has denied the connection (login).
Is the server (lvassociates) set up to permit remote MySQL connections? Most are not; it is a serious security hole.

I can log in remotely with putty to the server. I have ssh access to the server. What are my current options in deploying the ruby on rails application?
