OK now this is ridiculuous.

ONE feature in Vista that is actually useful and makes the difference, and that I really like and am already very much used to it -- the search field in the start menu is REMOVED in SP1 with no way to get it back!

For those who don't know, it's a feature where you type in the first few letters of a program name (or a document name, etc.) and it's there instantly, no need to browse endless mess of programs. I thought it was an ingenious feature and for that alone it was worth switching from XP.

This kind of idiotic maneuver enters new levels of stupidity. You make a feature that people love, then take it away. Seriously, they're the biggest morons in the entire tech world.

They supposedly did this for not to enforce this integrated desktop search facility and let 3rd party search programs to be used. But that is the biggest bull, it is not the same! Why should I launch a program, run a search that takes up to a minute and not even find what I was looking for, when it's already done, it works great and no 3rd party program will ever do even remotely similar. This is the bull of the year definitely. Boooo!

I'm very disappointed and I'm not gonna update, and I'm only this close to shredding this piece of junk to little pieces.

What? SP1 is not released yet. You either have it turned off or bad eyesight. It was the first thing I learned about Vista when I just heard rumors about it years ago.

I don't have it on this comp but I guess it must be unchecked. I'm sure if Microsoft were to leave it in the start menu the EU would slap on another €1 billion in addition to the latest ruling hehe

That's bull. From a thousand of workarounds they just chose the easiest, they've removed it. They might have stripped it down to just the menu search, and that would be great. No 3rd party app can integrate to the menu and provide this facility, it's completely Vista's thing. What a shame.
