What's a Realistic CPM for 1Million Uniques on hardware review targeted audience

Hey All, I'm new so hey everyone

This is a question i was asked today & it's bugging me.

What is a realistic CPM ad revenue for a hardware review site consisting of 1-3 Million uniques a month, average 3-5 page views per user in 2008.
The site has a good look, and isn't something just thrown up with no thought, can't give you the url atm.
Users are 18-32Yo Mostly males viewing hardware reviews to make an informned decision before buying, and get there mainly via google & internet forum links.

To me, it's a total of 1-3 Million people a month on a computer hardware targeted audience.
Since it's only reviews to help you make an informned decision, i would say a good percent are at the point of buying something.

I have been told many varying figures regarding CPM for such a site.
These range from 10c-$100 CPM for a banner & 10c-$10 CPC.

    $100 CPM per banner seems like a dream to me, $100 CPM * 1000(1Mill Uniques = 1000CPM) = $100k.
Seems to good to be true, while $1000 seems realistic.
And do ad companys pay raw CPM, or just uniques as i have been told.

I would expect $1-2 CPM to be possible using 3 banners per page myself, but have no idea and have been told CPM is crashing again.

Anyone here wish to say what they would expect from Google / Banner comps like Burst, Castle, TF etc..

There is no way to say what you could expect, it could be $.10 or $10 CPM. $100 CPM seems rather unrealistic. Your best return might be with targeted CPA campaigns.

With the banner ad companies like Burst, they only fill a percentage of the banners. You might get $2 CPM but they'd only fill maybe 5 - 10% of your inventory. Most people chain their ad companies to maximize fill rates.

    Thanks Lil_Red, nice site btw.

I think your right, CPA Campaigns would probably do well given the site's focus & audience.

    Thanks .

You might also try contacting companies that relate to your niche and see if they'd be interested in buying sponsorships for particular pages.

If you don't mind me asking, what networks are you working with now?

You can try contacting companies like AMD/Intel/Nvidia and ask for exclusive advertising deals. You can get decent rate from them and cut out the middle man.
