The main criteria for any kind of writing is clarity. Always write to express and not impress. Thats of foremost importance. Besides write in short sentences. Use simple words.
Voicing out your thoughts is the best way to write your article. You don't have to research about what you are about to write because you already know the subject. Articles are written by experts of that field. If not, then you must be a good writer to write things that you are not an expert of the topic.

2. Well -written
3. well- researched
4. STAY FOCUSED ON THE MAIN TOPIC
5.it should be well organized

it should be catchy, full of thoughts not copied from anybody else that's why we have this so called copywrite because it can be subjected in plagiarism checked.

As you focus on the main topic, the reader can also stay under your "pre-sell" while you promote your products. As the reader finishes reading the article, he would gladly click on your link and go to your site on his own.

For me, original, infomative and good writing are my Criteria of a Quality Article.
Great comments everyone. Here are a couple points from my experience:
1) Provocative title
2) Content that delivers on that title
3) 3 key points marked by bullets
4) Actionable key points
5) Ending that ties back to the title
Its subjective, write passionately about a subject that you are interested in and that can constitute a good article.
content is the king, but you have not to scare about what will you write about
Follow these steps and create a quality article
1: Flashy titles
2: Exclusive content
3: Getty images
4: Conclude with making a statement.
Thomas.1193 you said to use Getty Images. I have never used images in an article. Can you (or anyone else) please explain how (or if) you use images in your article marketing?

Images can help draw the readers eye to your content and sometimes even help make your point (a picture is worth a thousand words... or so artists say).
It would have to be a very high-profile article to use Getty Images since they are all VERY, very spendy.
If you want to use images, I suggest you try either one of the free stock image sites or one of the less expensive sites such as iStock and Fotolia.

I see blogs with lots of pics and using pictures with articles isn't new to writing. Magazines and newspapers have used them for eons to break up their content and draw their readers' focus to it.
