IE / Firefox : how each respects margins

We are building a Microsoft Virtual Earth mapping solution.

When we insert the map module, (that we have built and tested in the development area), into the web environment there are x and y coordinate issues when the map renders certain styles. Firefox renders perfectly . . . but IE seems to see and respect <div> margins that Firefox does not. Consequently, IE is throwing pieces of the VE map all over page. Is there some way to get IE to see the same thing that Firefox is seeing or to turn off whatever <div> elements that IE is respecting?
