    DiscountASP vs GoDaddy

I want to change my hosting, currently I'm using Brinkster, I don't like the fact that I cannot create the virtual directories for ASP.NET applications myself, I have to ask the support to do this besides I can have no more than 3 virtual directories. So, I'm looking for another hosting.

I'm considering both DiscountASP and GoDaddy, the former offers a lot of interesting tech things, including ASP.NET 3.5 that me as a web developer interests a lot, the latter is cheaper and MS SQL is already included, but they are not so technically advanced.

I'm leaning towards DiscountASP because they are well known for quality ASP.NET hosting, they are the gold partner of Microsoft.

The first time, I bought a domain with godaddy, is ok.

The second time, I bought 2 domain and 2 month hosting with godaddy, everything is ok. Only feel their hosting is quite slow. But I actually didn't want to use it host anything, so I didn't complain it with their support. The reason why I purchased their 2 month hosting is only because their "1.99 domain with hosting purchase", so I want to have a try.

But after two or three days, I can't remember, I got an email said "Suspected of Fraud Inquiry" - "The account registered to Customer Number xxxxxx has been locked and the payment method suspended from further use. All charges made to this payment method were refunded and all products canceled.".

What they want is a photo ID, I sent it to them. And ok, they said the similar thing will not happen again, and generate a temporary offer to let me checkout. I paid it, and ok the two domains were returned to my management, but - my two months hosting disappeared...

Godaddy is well-known for domain name service, but not a good choice for hosting. I hear good things about DiscountASP, however.

I've been with Discount ASP for 3 years. There service has been really good, and customer support responsive.

Once you add stuff, things to get more expensive.

Also, I noticed they've had downtimes lately. I hope its temporary.

I think both companies you are looking at offer moneyback policy. So I think there will be no problem to try both of them and make sure which one you like more or less
