Man you guys are really uptight about submitting your websites. haha

Well, I have never submitted a website since 2002 and I haven't lost any sleep. But you guys can keep submitting in hope of getting that extra ranking

I still think its worthless waste of time...

Submitting a site means that even if you have no incoming links then eventually the search engine will read your submission and add you to the end of the results (behind the millions of other pages).

If you do have incoming links then your page will be found via the links before the search engine submission is processed making the submission a wast of the one or two minutes it took to to make. Of course you could spend the time optimising the keywords on your page a little better instead.

So you guys do it for a peace of mind and than you get mad when I say its "worthless waste of time"? hehe

I have to agree with felgall. Why not submit your site to some directory's instead of google. The effect will be longterm.

You can Submit your website to directories, articles, social bookmarkings, forum signature link buildings. These are all techniques to build PR and boost Traffic.

    Cheers

Speaking from my own experience, I can only say that:

It has never been a waste of time for me to submit to the major engines. As mentioned; every little bit helps and it only takes a few minutes of my time.

I also use site maps so that the spiders don't get lost, even if they will never love me.

For me, this is is just standard procedure and I have seen measurable results from my own sites, not necessarily mind blowing, but certainly an improvement.

While content and backlinks are important, it's a combination of factors, especially the little things that can assist me in becoming more successful in my view.

I personally don't submit to 100s of SE, only the 3 majors. Takes me less than 3 minutes.

As to your question: 'Why submitting???', it has already been answered in this thread.

Well..........its good and recomended to submit your site to popular directories but I think submitting site to search engines is waste of time. I think its better to let the search engine to find your site and index it.

I'm not surprised really, it's obvious from your posts that you either didn't read people's replies properly or just failed to understand what was being said.

I don't know how you learn anything new, from what I've seen, trying to help you is a worthless waste of time.
It's 530 people, but do you really get it?

Going a little off topic are we?

I understand whats being said. The majority of people here seem to like to submit there sites to the 3 major engines for the "peace of mind". I however, prefer to spend my time doing other stuff because I dont need the "peace of mind".

That is why I said its a "waste of time".

No, clearly you don't but since you don't understand it's impossible to make you see that.

Whatever, It's been discussed and it's your choice.

There is no good reason to submit your site to the search engines - any companies offering this service are living in the 90s and are wasting your money. Submitting to Digg/Reddit etc will get you indexed, but much faster - typically within the hour.

Not true. The vast majority of social bookmarking sites use nofollow on tier links making them essentially worthless from an SEO point of view.

Yes there is. Read this thread to find out why.

Considering there are only three to submit to I'd have to agree.
