I have no idea why you're asking, CS Geek, but it'd be interesting to see the replies.

He wants to decide how he wants to look like, based on opinions of women.

CS Geek, if that's true, don't. It's a bs and you shouldn't care, just be how you feel you want to be.

I like having some beard, and no woman will make me shave daily, dammit!

It depends on the type of guy

There are guys that look fabulous in very long hair, some would look great without hair, some can only wear it mussed up and on and on.

The same goes for hair on the face. There is nothing worse than a guy with a wisp of a wanna be on the face or a guy who grows a jungle.

It all depends on the personality of the guy, who he is. Some women like certain personalities and what goes along style wise, so to fake from the outside who you are is not going to achieve anything

The outside must fit the inside …

How come you wonder what I'd say?

But since you do... I don't like long hair on guys. As for facial hair, I have no preference. It suits some people and not others.

    Just curious.

I was expecting to hear something along the lines of "mohawk" or "flock of seagulls". I didn't know your taste was so... plain.

It depends on so many things...personality, age, style; I don't care too much about the length of the hairstyle but I definitely dig nicely maintained facial hair.

    It really does depend on the guy but generally;

    1- Hair:
    - Short, well kept.

    2- face:
    Clean shaven.

I like to be able to see my guy's face, and have nothing hidden by long or unshaven hair.

I'm with you Datura, it depends on the guy, although I think only a strong few look great without any hair at all...

I tend to go for the rugged scruffy look, think Aragorn, Indiana Jones.....but I think these looks do need the strong piercing eyes and brooding looks to go with it.

I'm not a fan of beards or moes.

This is a really weird thread!

Yeah - having said I prefer short-hair and clean-shaven, there's always the exception to the rule - like Wolverine!

I think that what you like often depends very much on the culture you grew up in, how much you have accepted those artificial standards.

In some cultures a man must have his face covered with tattoos or deliberate scar patterns, in other cultures facial hair can not be shaved. Then there are some that shave part of their hair etc.

We are all influenced by movies and videos today, norms for certain characters are set by stories that are invented. I remember when I was a child and the Beatles were just starting up, they had the hair cut in a way that was considered long and outrages by the generation of my parents. They were so upset by this, they thought rules and order had been damaged to the core. Their standards did not allow for deviation.

Look back in history and see how styles have changed, and so it will be for a long time to come

I'll toss in I'm more for the scraggy, rough-it types. A bit on the scruffy side, but well maintained in their own way. No long-hairs or Grizzley Adams tho'

    Welcome to the forums, Jessalynn.

Yeah, I reckon, a "real" man must be a bit scruffy, thus the term "man". It's the ladies who have to do everything to keep their looks perfect and attract attention. That's how nature works. And I'm not saying this only because I'm lazy.
