    [ASP.Net/VB.Net] Document Management System

    Hi all,

    I need to develop a document management system. I never do this and have a little bit ideas. But I still need someone to share their opinions and experience with me. Please advice me.

    My plan:

    Plan A:
    1. store all the documents in server (all documents are in .xls format)
    2. save files directory in mysql database
    3. if user want to open the document, system will copy it to user's PC and open it.
    4. After they finish modifying it, system will store the document to server.

    Plan B:
    1. store all the documents in mysql database in server (using BLOB datatype)
    2. if user want to open the document, system will retrieve it from database and open it in user's PC
    3. After finish, system will store it again in database

    My problem:
    1. I don't know the codes to copy/open files to/in user's PC. My codes now do it only in server

    Code:
            '***********************************************************************************
            ' Object declaration to access Excel Application
            '***********************************************************************************
            Dim myExcel As Object = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
            Dim oBook As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook
            Dim oSheet As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet
            Dim oCells As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Range

            Dim NewCopy As String = "FILE DIRECTORY IN SERVER"

                '***********************************************************************************
                ' Fill the field in Excel file and Open the file
                '***********************************************************************************
                oBook = myExcel.Workbooks.Open(NewCopy, 0, False, 5, "", "", True, Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.XlPlatform.xlWindows, "\t", False, False, 0, True)
                oSheet = myExcel.Worksheets(1)
                oCells = myExcel.Range("A1")
                oSheet.Columns(1).Cells(1) = "Civil and Structure"
                oSheet.Columns(5).Cells(1) = RefID
                oSheet.Columns(1).Cells(6) = NCRTitle
                myExcel.Visible = True
    Hope you can give me idea to proceed developing this system. Thanks in advance
