    www or not

    Hi all,
I have added this 301 to my site because the back links were getting split.
    Options +FollowSymlinks
    RewriteEngine on
    rewritecond %{http_host} ^domain.com [nc]
    rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com/$1 [r=301,nc]
(I did put my domain in!!thought I' put that in)

And made them to follow the www.site. And when you just site(dot)com you get a 500 error.

Google having trouble with two finding them, so I'm looking now to see what could be wrong.

1-Is this a good idea, and should I have made the www correct, or the other way around.
2-Google webmaster tool, There a way to set this up, so I guess they know what I'm doing, and not a redirect hack.

    Thanks for the input.

1 - www. or no www. doesn't matter -- just choose one and be consistent. Some people will tell you to get rid of www. because it's unnecessary and somewhat antiquated -- but for SEO purposes it doesn't matter.

2 - I doubt Google will misinterpret this as a redirect hack.

Well in my case.......my site included www and earlier it shows no results for links for non www but noe everything becomes fine and results for both are the same.

Gonna close this thread as that other current one already covers this issue.
