Unhappy Help! I have been banned but it wasn't my fault

I host my website on a shared server at apollohosting.com. On 1/1/08 I noticed I was not appearing on Google's organic search results. I used to be on the 1st page, now I don't even show up. I finally realized someone had hacked into apollohosting's server and put all kinds of spam crap onto every page of my website - stuff like cialis, viagra, redirects, etc.... this was hidden text that you wouldn't notice just by looking at the site, you had to "view source" then you saw it.

I have taken down the site and uploaded it so now it is clean again. But I am sure I was banned as my site was spidered by Google and taken off their results, but... this was not my fault, I can even show proof. Nevertheless, what should I do, who can I contact at Google, is there an email address, a phone number, etc...? If anyone knows any one or any way to address this, please let me know. I have even noticed that my paid advertising on Adwords placement has dropped way down in the rankings.

Any advice, names or contacts at Google, etc... are greatly appreciated. Also I need the name of a new hosting company for my site, it isn't ecommerce, just a regular web site of a service company.

    Thank you.

Thanks stymiee for your response. I did that yesterday and sent in the request. How long in your experience does it take for my site to start showing back up? Is there anything else I can do?

I want to change hosting companies yesterday but I need someone to suggest one, my site is simple, frontpage, no ecommerce but I need a SECURE host and one that is good with customer service, I don't care about cost.

If you have any other suggestions, I greatly appreciate them. Thanks for your time.

I've never been banned so I can't tell you how long it will take but I would not expect it to be very quick. At this point all you can do it wait.

Thanks again stymiee, someone else mentioned adding backlinks, what are those? Also, do you have a hosting company you can suggest? Thanks so much.

I found a tool on the web to check if you have been Google blacklisted and it said I had not, but I don't trust it. I used to come up in the top page for "san diego movers", now I don't even show on the 15th page.... yet my competitors places have not changed.

They are links from pages on other websites to pages on your website.

Hostgator seems to be the most recommended one in the Web Hosting forum.

Just because you had a drop in your rankings doesn't mean your banned. Do a search for your domain(site:domain.com) and see what comes up. If you get results then you're not banned. Also, in the Google webmaster tools account it will tell you if you are banned.

Thanks again stymiee. I did try the (site:domain.com) and I got lots of results. If this means I am not banned could all that spam crap that was on each page of my site (cialis, viagra, redirects, etc...) have caused the precipitous drop of my site from the search engine results?

Also I put my site in my profile if you have any interest in checking it out (siterioritymoving.com) is what mine is.

Thanks for the suggestion of Hostgator, I will check them out. I still am blown away at the loss of my site from not only the search engine results but also the AdWords results as well.

I think it's safe to say it is difficult to rank well for anything when your pages are full of unrelated content. You just may have to wait for the pages to be reindexed to see if your rankings return to normal.

On the subject of Host Gator, I signed up a reseller account with them a few days ago, and in doing so, I contacted their support a couple of times. I can say that both their e-mail-support and their chat-support is quick, as well as helpful and professional. Since I haven't used their service to any significant extent at this point, I can't speak for the technical quality at this point.

Also, you may not be blacklisted. Could just be all of the major changes in the pages. I once made a mistake and did major changes on a website. Thought I'd never come back to the top. Took about 1 - 2 months, but it came back even better in the SERP's. This may simply be the case with your site.

budhanes, thanks so much for your response. I actually am starting to think I wasn't completely blacklisted. But all of my competitors are in the same exact positions and I am not even on the 15th page for the search "san diego movers" if searched in San Diego IP address. This is the same for all my other organic keyword searches. This coincides to the day that I was spidered by Google and the day I was hacked.

Also I am going to change hosting companies to ixwebhosting. I spoke to them and I liked their 24/7 support and other features. I am not interested in going cheap, just want the best and one that won't get hacked

If you look at my site (it's in my profile) and you see anything else or have suggestions, please let me know.

    Thanks again.

One of my sites was banned. It took about 4 months and I sent them like 10 email thingys. Now my site has never ranked good for anything else.

Best advise it to sell it and start over, sucks huh.

Jon, thanks so much for your reply, yes it sucks... I have sent 2 emails and am going to try and call someone at Google. I can't really sell my domain as it is my company name and everything we have printed has it on it...

There has to be another way to fix this, it wasn't even my fault.

    Thanks.

Obviously having that spam on there is hurting you. Fix it and wait. That really is all there is to it.
